Tokyo Lens

Experiencing Japan, One Adventure at a Time

This is a journey… in more ways than one.

Japan-based YouTuber, Tokyo Lens (Norm Nakamura) started out documenting the life of being an apprentice of the Yoshida Brothers (Tsugaru Shamisen). But over the years he has built a lifestyle and YouTube channel around capturing and sharing the range of incredible things that life in Japan has to offer.

From documentaries on lost and hidden villages, and Japanese craftsmen, to showing that piloting a boat or even an airplane in Japan is entirely possible with the right mindset and a bit of effort! (And can’t forget his love for Tiny Apartments!)

  • Tokyo Lens Experiences

Japan can cover so much more than just the beautiful scenery, festivals, and foods.
Through the Tokyo Lens channel, Norm has done everything possible to show people that with a little effort, and a bit of patience, it is entirely possible to build the life that you have always wanted here in Japan.

  • The Tsugaru Shamisen

For over 10 years, Norm has been the apprentice to the Yoshida Brothers.
The Tokyo Lens channel itself started from Norm wanting to showcase the beauty of the Tsugaru Shamisen to the world, and grew into what it is now from there! Norm still plays the shamisen and works regularly with two of Japan’s top players (called Ki&Ki) to introduce and share the beauty and power of the Tsugaru Shamisen.
